Cessna Customer in Sweden to Receive Europe's First Fleet of G1000 Equipped 172R Skyhawks

December 01, 2004
Wichita, KS - December 1, 2004 - BF Scandinavian Aviation Academy located in Vasteras, Sweden, will add six new 172R Skyhawks equipped with Garmin G1000 to their fleet of 27 Cessna aircraft beginning in March 2005. The new 172R Skyhawks will display the flight schools' distinct orange and blue on white paint scheme. This marks Cessna's first European fleet order for 172s equipped with the G1000 glass cockpits.

"We opened the flight school in 1963 and began using Cessna aircraft for primary flight training in 1976," said Evert Raadsen, Sales Director for BFHangar 5. "Our fleet is distinct because it is one of the newest in the area. In addition to the six new G1000 equipped aircraft we will add next year, we took delivery of 11 new 172Rs less than four years ago. We choose the 172 because they are reliable and have a low operating cost. We will continue to use the 172s for introductory flight training prior to our students progressing to advanced training in Cessna 340s."

BF Scandinavian Aviation Academy is one of the leading flight training schools in the region. They train approximately 250 commercial and ATPL students annually, and are recognized as a Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) approved flight school. Additionally, they operate BF Hangar 5, which is an EASA certified maintenance facility.

Cessna announced the 172 with Garmin G1000 in July 2004. Cessna anticipates delivery of the first G1000 equipped 172 in early 2005. Customers taking delivery of the G1000-equipped Skyhawks have the distinct advantage of Cessna's FAA/Industry Training Standards (FITS) approved G1000 program. The program is designed to assist customers in their transition from traditional aircraft panel gauges to the new all-glass, jet-like cockpit.
