Delaware State Police Adds Fourth Bell 407 to Fleet

January 15, 2004

Fort Worth, TX - January 15, 2004 - The Delaware State Police has taken delivery of its fourth new Bell 407. This aircraft replaces a Bell 206-L4 LongRanger in the State Police fleet. The advantages of owning a uniform fleet of 407s and the Delaware State Police's long history with Bell Helicopter positively influenced the procurement decision. Edwards & Associates, a Bell subsidiary, will install law enforcement mission equipment with final delivery to the Delaware State Police in early 2004.

Captain Jeff Evans of the Delaware State Police stated that the reason for selecting the 407 was that the aircraft was "a better fit for our mission profile." The police force utilizes its helicopter fleet for law enforcement, search and rescue, and EMS missions. Capt. Evans continued, "The 407 has a great ability for tight landings in urban areas, increased horsepower, and a long line for hoisting rescues." The aircraft's speed also enables the police unit to cover the rural parts of the state more efficiently.

For over twenty-five years, the Delaware State Police has utilized Bell Helicopters' in its Aviation division. Capt. Evans states, "We consider ourselves to be loyal Bell customers. We have built relationships throughout all areas of Bell and we were not ready or willing to leave Bell."
