Fort Worth, TX - August 5, 2004 - John L. Bean has been named Senior Vice President of Bell Helicopter's Government Business Unit. Mr. Bean comes to Bell from Lockheed Martin, Fort Worth, where he served as Vice President and General Manager of F-16 programs for the past three years. Mr. Bean replaces Gen. Terry Dake (USMC-Ret) who retired from Bell Helicopter earlier this summer.

"We are absolutely delighted to have John on board with Bell during this crucial time of growth for us," declared Bell CEO Mike Redenbaugh.

As Senior Vice President of the GBU, Mr. Bean is the senior executive for all U.S. Government programs including the V-22 Osprey, the H-1, and the Bell Eagle Eye. Mr. Bean will also direct Bell's involvement in numerous foreign military programs, as well as all after-market support to the U.S. Military. "John's solid experience working with the U.S. Department of Defense, as well as having extensive knowledge of the international marketplace, will certainly be a help to us as we begin to enter production for the V-22 Osprey and the H-1 programs," Mr. Redenbaugh added.

Mr. Bean joined the Fort Worth Division of General Dynamics (now Lockheed Martin Aeronautics Company-Fort Worth) in 1978 as an Avionics Integration Engineer. He received his bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Texas in Austin in 1978. Since then Mr. Bean has been promoted through a number of increasingly important managerial and executive positions before his appointment as VP & GM of F-16 Programs in December 2001. During his 26-year career, Mr. Bean has attended a number of Lockheed Martin and General Dynamic's training programs as well as postgraduate Engineering studies at Southern Methodist University.

Mr. Bean has an FAA Commercial and Instrument Pilot's Rating with 1700 hours flight time in both fixed and rotary wing aircraft including over 200 hours in the F-16.
