Maneuverability, Wide Cut, Top List for New Rotary

February 12, 2004
San Diego, CA - February 12, 2004 - Control and responsiveness combine to deliver higher productivity and reduced operator fatigue from a new rotary mower, the Jacobsen HR-6010, introduced at the 2004 Golf Course Superintendents Association of American (GCSAA) show.

The HR-6010 features a 60-horsepower, tier II, Perkins diesel engine that meets the most stringent compliance requirements of the California Air Resource Board (CARB) yet still delivers greater fuel efficiency and reserve power in tough cutting conditions.

"We're very excited about adding this new mower with a 10-foot cutting path to our line," said Larry Jones, Jacobsen Product Manager. "The new power plant and hydraulic drive are a hit with customers who have told us they like the productivity and performance of the HR-6010."

A parallel series hydraulic 4x4 drive with 4-wheel locking differential allows the HR-6010 to grip turf for traction and smooth cutting yet still provides a high degree of gentleness reducing the risk of ripping or tearing turf. Its 10'7" wide cutting path, one of the widest swaths in the industry, makes the Jacobsen HR-6010 highly productive but the mower also folds up to just 61" wide for easy storage and portability.

The two front-wheel motors on the HR-6010 feature internal wet disk brakes built for holding the mower on a hill or in other difficult conditions, according to Jones. And a servo-controlled variable displacement pump provides smoother, more responsive control that translates to less operator fatigue.

Besides lower maintenance costs, the foam-filled caster wheels mean the HR-6010 maintains consistent cutting height despite conditions that put other types of equipment tires out of commission.

"Another key benefit of the HR-6010 is that it is compact," said Jones. "That means easier storage and portability."
