Orange and Black Look Reflects Renewed Turfgrass Industry Commitment

August 09, 2004
Manheim, PA - August 9, 2004 - In a move that makes Jacobsen®, A Textron Company the only major turf grooming equipment manufacturer with a turf growing and harvesting division, Brouwer®, by Jacobsen takes on the official brand colors of orange and black.

"It is a natural evolution of our business to make this significant investment in the development of turfgrass growing and harvesting equipment," says Jon Carlson, president of Jacobsen. "Embracing Brouwer with the orange and black of Jacobsen is a sign of our commitment to the growth of the Brouwer brand and to the development of the global turf production industry."

Travel anywhere in the world and you will likely see a piece of Brouwer equipment on a turfgrass farm. In fact, there are more Brouwer harvesters owned than all other companies combined.

The Brouwer name, reputation, dealer network and its people will remain in place. The changes will be in the efficiency gained from the shared resources of Textron and Jacobsen, both technologically and financially. Most importantly this support gives Brouwer the capacity to efficiently and cost-effectively bring durable and reliable products to market.

The re-branding of Brouwer also reflects Jacobsen's commitment to a total solutions approach to the turf care industry.

"Our people are more than expert equipment engineers. We use our knowledge of soil and plant sciences, chemical management, water conservation and environmental stewardship to build the best products for our customer," says Carlson. "With the addition of the Brouwer line, we now have a complete range of products for superior turf growing, harvesting, grooming, aerating and cutting."

Jacobsen and Brouwer both have a rich heritage in their respective industries. This is a reputation Jacobsen is adamant about maintaining with the new Brouwer.

Brouwer® by Jacobsen has already hired one of the industry's leading turfgrass producers to consult on the Brouwer business. Brian Bouchard is the founder and owner of Kingston Turf Farms in Rhode Island. He designed, built and patented a number of farming innovations. As a consultant, Bouchard will work with Brouwer on projects enabling the company to provide equipment and services that will help turf farmers run a more efficient and productive business.

The turfgrass sod industry is an estimated $8.6 billion business in the U.S. These grasses add value to homes, reduce carbon dioxide and erosion, and provide a cosmetic enhancement to yards, fields and golf courses across the globe.

Jacobsen manufactures a full range of vehicles and turf maintenance equipment for golf, turf, professional lawn care, sports field and industrial applications. The company markets Bob-Cat®, Brouwer®, Bunton®, Cushman®, E-Z-GO®, Jacobsen®, Ryan® and SteinerTM brand products internationally through an extensive distribution network. Jacobsen is a Textron company. Additional information is available at www.jacobsen.com.
