Jacobsen® Announces InCommand Control System

February 09, 2006

Charlotte, NC – February 9, 2006 – Jacobsen®, a Textron (NYSE: TXT) company, announces the InCommand™ Control System- an upgrade to the handles and clutch system used on walking greensmowers of the PGM 22 and GK 500-series. The functional and mechanical upgrades were unveiled during the 2006 GIS Show in Atlanta.

The PGM 22 and GK 500-Series will feature a new D-handle that improves operator comfort and makes the operator presence control (OPC) easier to use. In addition to improving operator comfort, the new D-handle creates a common operating platform among the Jacobsen walking greens mowers and introduces the InCommand Control System, a new variable speed control feature. The InCommand Control System reduces the risk of operator error, increases productivity and produces a more consistent cut.

"We're excited about the new product enhancements we'll bring to market this year," said Ryan Weeks, vice president of engineering and product management, Jacobsen. "These upgrades will allow our customers to reduce risk, be more productive and achieve more consistent results with every mow. The InCommandä control system allows any operator to more easily mow around hard-to-reach areas with consistent results."

The user friendly variable speed control allows the operator to increase or decrease the forward speed of the machine with minimal effect on the clip rate. Finally, a new and improved clutch has been added. The simplified design makes the clutch more durable, reliable and easier to maintain. The clutch also provides a smoother, more controlled engagement of cutting and traction system. By taking the complexity out of the design, Jacobsen has made equipment that is easier to own, maintain and use.

"Our team of engineers set out to build a machine that would adapt to course conditions and operators," said Weeks. "These upgrades allow our equipment to adapt to each individual circumstance."

Jacobsen is celebrating its 85th anniversary of providing quality products, responsive customer service and leading-edge innovations. Jacobsen's industry firsts include the walking greens mower, riding greens mower and magnetic bedknives.
