New - Turfco TriWave Overseeder Increases Seeding Success

September 04, 2007

September 4, 2007 - With the introduction of the revolutionary Turfco TriWave™ 60 overseeder, Ransomes Jacobsen has brought a new breed of overseeder to the market, which can significantly increase the success of overseeding operations, especially on contoured ground.

The new TriWave 60 is the result of more than four years development in partnership with golf course managers in the USA and here in the UK. It was conceived as a result of the frustration that course managers were experiencing with regard to the overseeding process. Disruption of existing turf, the inability to follow ground contours and limited seed germination when using existing equipment, was the driving force behind its development.

With three, 460mm (18”) wide, patent-pending, floating heads moving independently and blade spacing at 38mm (1½”), the TriWave 60 doesn't miss low spots, and it won't destroy any high areas, offering unmatched consistency in seed density and depth.

WaveBlade counter-rotating blade technology creates optimum clean slits and the newly-developed seed delivery system (also patent-pending), places seeds into the slits without waste, increasing germination. Infinite depth control allows easy adjustment of the seed depth, without tools, to meet the needs of current thatch or turf conditions. The combination of the floating heads and infinite depth adjustment keeps the seed depth consistent, regardless of terrain.

Duncan Kelso, Course Manager at Kings Hill Golf Club in Kent has been trialing the TriWave for the past year and says, “The germination rate is generally better and that's almost certainly due to the U-shaped slit that WaveBlade creates, allowing the seed more contact with the soil. I've also noticed that we have been more economical in our seed use. We've used it extensively on our fairways, but have also tested it on tees, including one of our tiered tees, and it has coped admirably with all the undulations encountered.”
