Cessna Model 150 Marks 50th Anniversary at Oshkosh

July 27, 2009
Oshkosh, WI - July 27, 2009 - Cessna Aircraft Company, a Textron Inc. (NYSE: TXT) company, is celebrating the 50th anniversary of its Model 150 at the Experimental Aircraft Association’s annual week-long conference - AirVenture 2009. To kick off the anniversary week, Cessna saluted Model 150 owners at a dedicated Cessna 150 fly-in to Wittman Regional Airport in Oshkosh just prior to the start of this year’s AirVenture.

“The Cessna 150 has been one of the world’s most versatile and popular training aircraft with nearly 24,000 delivered before production of this airplane transitioned to the then new Model 152 in 1978,” said John Doman, vice president of Worldwide Propeller Aircraft Sales.

“It’s only fitting that we celebrate this milestone for the Model 150 the same year Cessna extends its training heritage with the first deliveries of the an all-new aircraft that will produce many future generations of pilots, the Model 162 SkyCatcher,” said Doman.

Cessna plans to feature several Model 150s during the week-long event at its new larger exhibit space.

Originally sold in Standard, Trainer and Commuter versions in 1959, the two-seat 150 features tricycle landing gear and all-metal construction and had a retail price between $7,000 and $8,500 in 1959.
