Ipswich, England - November 30, 2009 - Situated just 25 minutes from Amsterdam city centre, Golfbaan Spaarnwoude is the largest golf complex in The Netherlands with a total of 66 holes playable on a combination of courses and accessible to golfers of all levels. Van der Pols, Ransomes Jacobsen’s distributor for the country, has delivered a fleet of new course maintenance equipment to Oranjewoud Realisatie, the contractor responsible for the tees, fairways and roughs at the complex. For more than two decades, Oranjewoud Realisatie has been sub-contracted by the course maintenance contractor, SBA Groentechniek BV, to manage the two hectares of tees, 27 hectares of fairways and 35 hectares of rough at Golfbaan Spaarnwoude where over 175,000 rounds of golf are played every year.
Jaap Schuurman, Project Manager, Sport at Oranjewoud Realisatie commented, “Of course productivity is important at this very busy golf course. When the sun rises golfers are waiting to start their early morning rounds of golf. Capacity is required to keep up with the pace, but the quality of the job has been the centrepiece of our long lasting relationship with Spaarnwoude.”
The first machine Oranjewoud purchased back in the mid 1980s was a Jacobsen HM-11 and the company has continued to support the brand over the years. They have now added two LF-4677 seven unit fairway mowers, a TR-3 tees mower with grass boxes and an HR-6010 rotary mower for maintaining the roughs.
Jaap Schuurman added,
“Our full time operators put a lot of hours on their Jacobsen machines and because the golf courses are very busy we cannot permit any downtime. With this investment in new Jacobsen machinery our fleet is now modern and fully up-to-date and we are equipped with the latest technology to again raise the quality level at the course.”
