Overwatch Tactical Operations Receives Above and Beyond Award for Supporting America’s Warfighters

June 22, 2009

AUSTIN, Texas, June 22, 2009 -- Overwatch Tactical Operations, an operating unit of Textron Systems, a Textron Inc. (NYSE: TXT) company, announced today that it has been honored with the Above and Beyond Award from the Texas Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR). This award is presented to companies that go above and beyond legal requirements to acknowledge employees who contribute to the nation’s defense and support those employees and their families during mobilization.

This honor is even more meaningful because the company was nominated for the Above and Beyond Award by one of its own. John Crockett serves as an on-site representative for Overwatch Tactical Operations in Huntington Beach, Calif., acting as a liaison between the company and its customer to ensure a constantly high level of service. He deployed overseas during 2007 as a U.S. Navy Reservist.

"I was in frequent contact with the company during that time," says John. "Team members from Human Resources also remained in close contact with my family members to make sure that their questions were answered and benefits were in place. This level of communication was a comfort, as was the knowledge that my job was waiting for me when I got back."

John returned to his position in late 2008, subsequently contacting the Texas ESGR to nominate Austin-based Overwatch Tactical Operations for the Above and Beyond Award.

"Overwatch Tactical Operations provides products and services designed to help America’s warfighters complete their missions," says Senior Vice President and General Manager Randy Averitte. "For that reason, caring for our own employees who serve is incredibly important. We honor the contributions and sacrifices that they make for our country."
