Public/Private Partnerships Support Depot Efficiency

HUNT VALLEY, Md., Aug 09, 2010 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- AAI Corporation, an operating unit of Textron Systems, a Textron Inc. (NYSE: TXT) company, announced today that Boeing has awarded $2.2 million to AAI's Logistics & Technical Services group for a range of training and maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) services in support of the C-17 Globemaster III(R) aircraft at the Ogden Air Logistics Center, located at Hill Air Force Base in Ogden, Utah. Activities under this award will support repair capabilities for the base's servo actuators, as well as establish critical, overarching depot support services at the Ogden Air Logistics Center.

Through mid-2012, AAI will provide several deliverables under this new award from Boeing. AAI will deliver and install an upgraded servo hydraulic component test stand at the Ogden Air Logistics Center, as well as conduct equipment capabilities demonstrations and provide component repair kits. In addition, AAI also will deliver component repair instructional services, as well as comprehensive technical repair manuals to support the base's logisticians.

"The Ogden Air Logistics Center manages vital repair activities for U.S. Air Force assets," says Vice President of Logistics & Technical Services Diane Giuliani of AAI. "AAI has extensive experience in public/private partnerships that allow depots to concentrate on those critical tasks while we work to streamline, optimize and update facilities, processes and procedures. This expertise also allows AAI to play a key role in assisting major original equipment manufacturers to establish organic depot capabilities for key component repairs."

AAI's depot partnership capabilities include working directly with both original equipment manufacturers and depots to manage the supply chain, identify and execute on process improvement opportunities, and build valuable skills among logisticians through instructional services and curriculum and courseware development.

"We tailor these strategies to the specific needs of the customer and end user," explains Giuliani. "AAI's Logistics & Technical Services group has a broad range of capabilities and proven expertise that we can harness -- including MRO, supply chain management, contractor logistics support and training services -- in order to create comprehensive solutions for each customer."
