E-Z-GO TXT 48 Golf Car

January 19, 2010

Ipswich, United Kingdon - January 19, 2010 - The latest golf car from E-Z-GO, the TXT 48, made its debut on the Ransomes Jacobsen stand at the BTME Show in Harrogate. Featuring a powerful 48-volt DC drivetrain and TruCourse technology, this next generation TXT golf car delivers a smoother ride, extended daily range and improved hill climbing ability. Ransomes Jacobsen and E-Z-GO are Textron Inc (NYSE: TXT) companies.

Combining the proven reliability of the TXT range, which has been the best selling golf car for the past decade, with the industry’s latest innovations, the TXT 48 is the affordable DC-powered vehicle for cost-conscious golf course operators.

Using the golf car’s innovative TruCourse technology, courses can customise the TXT 48’s performance characteristics to the unique topography and terrain of their facility, resulting in a smoother ride across even the most demanding terrain.

The new 48-volt drivetrain provides extended daily range with more power and hill-climbing ability and a 10% greater energy efficiency than the previous 36-volt model. When compared to the two main competitor DC golf cars in a side-by-side, real-time test on a 7,220 yard course, the TXT 48 proved to have a best-in-class energy efficiency, using over 500 watts less per round than the next best performing vehicle. This was only 240 watts more than E-Z-GO’s revolutionary AC-powered RXV golf car.

A handheld controller allows operators to customise the vehicle’s performance using a series of performance mode, speed, acceleration and regenerative braking settings to provide up to 200 configurations for every course. Programmable downhill speed control provides a smooth, comfortable and secure ride over the most challenging courses.

With a commitment to the environment, the foam seating is manufactured from 100% recyclable material, with repairable seat components made from recycled plastic to minimise landfill.

Retained from the previous TXT is the classic design styling, powder-coated tubular steel frame and automotive-derived body panels with their proven reliability and durability together with slip-resistant floor mats, centre-mounted drinks holders, ball and tee holders and walk-away braking alarm.

Commenting on the new TXT 48, Richard Tyrell, Product Manager at Ransomes Jacobsen for the E-Z-GO range said,
“The TXT platform has been in use for the past 12 years and is renowned for its robustness and reliability. By leveraging the latest market technology we now have a very cost-effective golf car featuring the most efficient DC drive system available to golf course operators and one that delivers a smoother, more enjoyable experience for the golfer.”
