Woodbridge School Win Suffolk Schools’ Golf Association Team Championship Sponsored by Ransomes Jacobsen and E-Z-GO

August 03, 2010

Ipswich, Suffolk, UK - August 3, 2010 - Woodbridge School were the winners of the Suffolk Schools’ Golf Association 2010 Team Championship hosted by Ufford Park Golf Club and jointly sponsored by Ransomes Jacobsen and E-Z-GO, both Textron Inc. (NYSE: TXT) companies.

A record number of 21 schools from across the county were represented at the event and the growing success of the championship meant that, for the first time, there were no places for second teams.

The format of stableford scoring, with the best two of the three players in team counting, led to a closely contested championship. The final placings were only decided when the last group finished their round with Joshua Robertson recording 41 points, the best score of the day. This score coupled with Edward Eastlake’s 39 points, produced a total of 80 points and made Woodbridge School the clear winners. King Edward VI, Bury St Edmunds, with brothers Jack and Sam Nicholson both scoring 36 points, took 2nd place ahead of St Joseph’s College with 71 points in 3rd and Newmarket College also with 71 points in 4th; St Joseph’s third player’s score determining the positions.

Greg Spray, marketing manager at Ransomes Jacobsen, presented the Ransomes Jacobsen/ E-Z-GO trophy to the winners and prizes to the placed teams.

Subsequently Woodbridge School represented Suffolk Schools at the English Schools’ Team Championship at the Came Down Golf Club in Dorset during July and finished a very creditable fourth out of the 25 counties represented at the event. Lancaster Royal Grammar School were champions with 43 points with Woodbridge just two points behind on 41.
