Rutter to Lead Textron Systems Canada Office

March 28, 2011

WILMINGTON, Mass., Mar 28, 2011 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Textron Systems, a Textron Inc. (NYSE: TXT) company, announced today that it has named Neil Rutter as general manager of Textron Systems Canada, Inc. Rutter and his team are located in Ottawa, Canada, bringing the broad capabilities of Textron Systems' operating units to Canadian customers.

Rutter is rejoining Textron Systems to lead the Canadian office after two years as the president of Blenheim Capital Services in Washington, D.C. Prior to his working with the international relations company, Rutter was director of International Contracts and Industrial Cooperation with Textron Systems for more than seven years. His focus throughout his 30-year career has been in international business relations, including international business development, industrial cooperation and offset management.

Graduating from Queen's University on the Regular Officer Training Programme, Rutter served as an artillery officer in the Canadian Forces before attending law school. His last position in Canada was as General Counsel of Combustion Engineering Canada, located in Ottawa.

Textron Systems' Canadian office has identified its first priority as the Department of National Defence (DND) Canadian Forces' Tactical Armoured Patrol Vehicle (TAPV) program, for which Textron Systems is currently competing. If selected, Textron Systems Canada will provide the overall program management and execute the Industrial Regional Benefits (IRB) program. It is anticipated that, if selected for the TAPV program, Textron Systems Canada will add more than 300 long-term jobs across all the Canadian provinces, continuing Textron's long history of industrial partnership in Canada.

"We are happy to have Neil back with Textron Systems to lead our operations in Canada," said Textron Systems President and Chief Executive Officer Fred Strader. "Neil's understanding of the Canadian military and Canadian defense needs, combined with his proven leadership capabilities and broad experience with Textron, will allow us to support our Canadian customers with speed and superb execution."

Textron Systems and its operating unit, Textron Marine & Land Systems, plan to offer a 4x4 wheeled armored vehicle specifically engineered and designed to provide survivability, mobility and versatility across the asymmetric battlefield over the full spectrum of operations.
