Opening of a new plant in Chongqing - the 4th location in China
Chongqing, China. On November 29, 2012 automotive supplier Kautex Textron celebrates the opening of its new plant in Chongqing with guests from the local government and from all over the world. After reviewing several sites Kautex chose Chongqing, China with its customers in mind: to be close to the automotive manufacturers, to be able to deliver very quickly and to keep competitive costs. It is the 4th location of Kautex in China. "China is and will be very important in Kautex´s growth strategy. This is a clear commitment to the Chinese market," said Vicente Perez-Lucerga, President & CEO of Kautex.
The Kautex plant in Chongqing, established in 2011, produces plastic fuel tanks for different automotive manufacturers, who produce cars in China. The plant begins with one production line and 28 employ-ees. However, it is designed for four lines and around 150 employees, explaining the total size of the plant at 18,000 m2. "The location offers great advantages to the plant. It allows working much closer with the customer and makes us more competitive due to lower operation costs," explained Wayne Shen, Vice President Operations Asia.
The Grand Opening Ceremony in Chongqing allowed Kautex to introduce the plant to the media and also thank the officials and employees who helped to build and set up the new Kautex location. Kautex believes that the Chongqing facility will further strengthen the confidence of its customers in China in their well-known high quality and innovative products.
