TRU Simulation + Training to Provide Two Full Flight Simulators for Ansett Aviation Training

September 17, 2015

Ansett’s Melbourne and Taipei facilities will host new KA350i/B200 and A320 high fidelity training devices

BANGKOK, THAILANDSeptember 15, 2015—TRU Simulation + Training, a Textron Inc. (NYSE: TXT) company, announced today that Ansett Aviation Training has signed agreements for the purchase of two full flight simulators. The first, a King Air 350i convertible to a B200 full flight simulator, will be installed in Ansett’s existing pilot training center in Melbourne. The second, an A320, will be installed in Taipei, Taiwan, in a new training facility being established through a joint venture between Ansett and Apex Flight Academy.

Stated George Karam, Vice President and General Manager of TRU Simulation + Training Air Transport Simulation division, “We are proud to support Ansett and Apex Flight Academy’s plans to address the Asia Pacific region’s growing Airbus A320 pilot training needs. We are also thrilled to work together with Ansett to provide in-country Beechcraft King Air full flight simulator training capabilities to Textron Aviation’s Australian operators.” Added David Garside, Ansett Aviation Training CEO “Australia’s Beechcraft fleet has faithfully served its operators who must often face harsh conditions; it is our duty to ensure that the country’s growing number of pilots can continue to fly safely by offering them first class training courses and technology at our facilities. In Taiwan as well, we are pleased to have taken these steps to support the growth plans of Tigerair and other operators in the region.”

Ansett’s Melbourne pilot training facility is adding the convertible KA350i/B200 full flight simulator to its fleet to support the training demand generated by Textron Aviation’s Beechcraft aircraft sales in Australia and the surrounding region. Slated for delivery by the third quarter of 2016, the simulator will be equipped with the Rockwell Collins Pro Line 21 avionics, TRU’s innovative REALCue™ motion system that drives the Moog actuators, advanced ADAS-X digital audio system, and front projection display system—providing optimum motion, audio and display performance. As part of the purchase agreement, TRU will also provide training courses for maintenance staff and instructors, as well as on-site assistance with initial qualification by the aviation authority. The device is expected to be qualified to CASA Level D FFS standards.

The new TRU A320 full flight simulator will be installed in the new Taipei pilot training facility that will include six simulator bays. The A320 will also be equipped with TRU’s innovative digital audio system and front projection display and will include the Rockwell Collins EP8000 image generation system. This new training infrastructure will help address Taiwanese and regional carriers’ growing need for cost-effective, advanced technology pilot training. Tigerair Taiwan will be the official launch customer for the new facility, which is expected to begin operations by the end of 2015.
