Next-Generation Visualization Environment Available Across New Simulation and Test Systems, As Upgrade Program for Current and New Customers

HUNT VALLEY, Md. — DECEMBER 3, 2015 — Textron Systems Electronic Systems, a Textron Inc. (NYSE: TXT) business, announced today the debut of its next-generation Reconfigurable Trainer at the Interservice/Industry Training, Simulation, and Education Conference (I/ITSEC) and at the Annual Association of Old Crows (AOC) International Symposium and Convention. I/ITSEC will take place in Orlando, Fla. through Dec. 4 (Booth #1101) and AOC will take place in Washington, D.C. through Dec. 3 (Booth #107).

The new Reconfigurable Trainer, which offers a multi-domain simulation environment encompassing land, air, maritime and space, offers the ability to create entities and threat simulations in as few as two screen touches. Highly specialized simulations can be developed and run with greater speed, precision and ease of use than ever before.

The Reconfigurable Trainer contains over 200 internal equipment models that are developed for various applications including crew simulators, virtual maintenance trainers, communications equipment trainers, mission rehearsal trainers, manned-unmanned teaming trainers, space command and control trainers and other complex military applications.

Hosted on commercial, off-the-shelf PCs, the Reconfigurable Trainer backbone architecture has been used as the basis for the T-25 Simulator for Electronic Combat Training (SECT), as well as the F-35 Lightning II Aircraft Systems Maintenance Trainer (ASMT).

Textron Systems’ new Reconfigurable Trainer was designed as a versatile and highly effective foundation for multiple simulation and test requirements. Built on a vertically integrated architecture, it supports rapid technology insertion for future expansion. This visualization environment will be delivered in early 2016 as part of the company’s renowned Advanced Architecture Phase Amplitude and Time Simulator, or (A2PATS™). A2PATS users can upgrade to this advanced software as part of Textron Systems’ comprehensive life-cycle support programs.

“We continuously invest in advancing our proven systems with greater mission capability, usability and maintainability,” says Senior Vice President and General Manager Steve Mensh. “Through the development of our new Reconfigurable Trainer, we’ve implemented game-changing enhancements to our proven systems, for both new and current customers – complete with a unique and intuitive 3-D visualization environment that is both easy to use and more capable than ever before.”
