Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia—May 18, 2017—TRU Simulation + Training, a Textron Inc. (NYSE:TXT) company, announced today that it has partnered with Universiti Kuala Lumpur Malaysia Institute of Aviation Technology (UniKL MIAT), located in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia to provide aviation training industry experience for students pursuing degrees in avionics. The internship provides students in their final year of their avionics degree program at MIAT with the opportunity to gain hands-on experience with flight training devices by rotating their time between the TRU Pilot Training Center™-Kuala Lumpur and several customer locations where TRU devices are installed, including Brisbane, Australia and Sharjah, United Arab Emirates.
“Working with UniKL MIAT was a natural fit for TRU, and we’re pleased to continue developing the professional skills of such a talented group of students,” commented Barry Gaines, TRU’s Director of Customer Service. “We have been supporting TRU flight simulator operators from our Kuala Lumpur office for over 7 years and we see this intern program as an exciting addition to our local engineering capability in Malaysia.”
Interns from UniKL MIAT are working as part of TRU teams currently based at customer locations and are working to provide device maintenance and field engineering support to these customers. This year’s internship, which is active February through August, accepted four students from UniKL MIAT and is expected to be available again in 2018.
