Charlotte, NC - January 31, 2012 - Jacobsen University, Jacobsen’s training program, kicked off its series of dealer technical training sessions January 16th. It was the first of five weeks of training available to Jacobsen dealers throughout January and into early February. Jacobsen is a Textron (NYSE: TXT) company.
Dealer technical training helps keep Jacobsen dealers up to date on equipment systems and technology covering topics such as electrical and hydraulic systems, reading schematics and new Jacobsen products. Jacobsen University is also equipped with lab areas and teardown bays, giving dealers a chance at hands-on exercises to practice the theoretical knowledge gained in the classroom.
Speaking of Erik Sides, Training Manager at Jacobsen, Bill Ledford of Tri-State Pump and Controls said, “He’s great. He’s very straight forward and his main goal is to give us the knowledge we need to do our jobs better. He started out on the factory floor and worked his way up – which gives him a unique perspective on technical training.”
In addition to dealer technical representatives, sales staff members also find the training sessions to be beneficial.
Steven Terrell, also of Tri-State Pump, said, “Technician training helps me support my customers after the sale. I work a lot with the technician after the product is delivered and this helps me understand his world better.”
Erik Thorell, from MTE, Inc. in Boston really enjoyed the Jacobsen University experience.
“This is probably the best school I’ve been to – and I’ve been to quite a few. I used to work for the dealer of another manufacturer and their training usually covered things I already knew. Here I’m learning new things and we get more involved, so it’s exciting.”
