Chattanooga, TN. Sherman + Reilly™, a Textron Inc. (NYSE: TXT) company, the leading manufacturer of power line stringing and installation equipment, continues to drive innovation with its new line of Next Generation battery-powered hydraulic tools. The superior design of these new Next Generation tools includes real-time communication technology, improved ergonomics focused on optimizing the tool’s center of gravity and more power with an enhanced Makita® battery platform.
“Utility professionals today want tools that have the latest in technological advances, such as full diagnostic readout that prove the job was done correctly, a more ergonomic design and, of course, more power,” said Ryan Berg, Director of Product Management for Sherman + Reilly™. Our new battery-powered hydraulic tools are packed with all of these features and much more.”
Tools in the new Next Generation line include 6-, 12-, and 15-ton crimping tools, cable and bolt cutters, and a 10K PSI pump with removable heads that have the capabilities to do both.
Each product in this new line of tools features Bluetooth® communication technology that allows electricians to wirelessly manage their tools. This feature provides access to tool history, monitors service timelines, and customizes tool operations to suit the worker’s preferences. Each Next Generation crimping tool is equipped with Intelli-CRIMP® technology, a unique pressure sensor that monitors the crimping process, ensuring the correct amount of pressure is applied to each crimp. Some tools are equipped with Auto Retraction Stop (ARS) which retracts the ram just enough to prepare the tool for the next cycle, saving time and energy. Additionally, there are tools with Retraction Stop Repeat (RSR) which allows the operator to partially retract the ram and repeat that retraction for subsequent crimps. Tools equipped with this feature emit audible and visual alerts when a crimp is below specifications.
Sherman + Reilly™ Next Generation battery-powered tools offer robust reporting capabilities to help streamline a company’s tool management, which improves on costs and maximizes a work crew's performance. i-connect is a cloud database that works both in unison with the i-pressTM diagnostic system as well as a standalone piece. When working with i-press, i-connect actively monitors and provides a variety of alerts, reports, and tool information that was captured while the tool was in use.
The improved ergonomic features of the Next Generation battery-powered tools include a reverse tapered hand grip for increased strength and optimal hand positioning. The rugged housing construction protects internal components against dirt and water intrusion. The enhanced tool design features an LED display on the lower portion of the tool that exhibits real-time communication of detailed tool information including: battery charge level, pressure sensor readings, and cycle information.
The new Next Generation tools also come with an upgraded high capacity Makita® battery platform that includes an active battery monitoring system for longer lasting productivity. The upgraded power capacity also provides more battery supply, protection, and a fuel gauge to inform the user of the battery’s remaining amount of charge.
The new Next Generation battery-powered hydraulic cutter and crimpers offer a high-quality solution for wire and cable termination from Sherman + Reilly™. For more information, visit www.sherman-reilly.com or call 1-800-251-7780.
