Grand Caravan Will Help Make Rain for Thailand's Ministry of Agriculture

October 11, 2004
Las Vegas, NV - October 11, 2004 - Cessna officials hosted a contract signing today for the first 208B Grand Caravan that will be delivered to Thailand's Ministry of Agriculture in 2005. Currently, the Thailand Ministry of Agriculture operates eight Model 208 Caravans; however, today's contract signing represents the first Grand Caravan 208B sale. The contract signing was held at the 2004 National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) Convention in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Thailand's Ministry of Agriculture took delivery of their first Model 208 Caravan approximately 12 years ago and has steadily purchased additional Caravans. Their entire Caravan fleet is used for cloud seeding in order to produce rain that will enable the country's farmers to produce more rice. Thailand is one of the world's largest exporters of rice.

The Minor Group, Cessna's Authorized Caravan and Single Engine Sales Representative for the region, played a key role in securing this sale. The Minor Group has been a Cessna affiliate for three years.

"The Caravan is well suited to Thailand's Ministry of Agriculture's needs because of its versatility, short field performance, and low direct operating costs," said Chris Bogaars, Cessna's Manager of Caravan and Single Engine Sales for the region. "The government decided to purchase a 208B Grand Caravan rather than a 208 Caravan because of the 208B's additional volume and payload."

Cessna will host a brief contract signing with representatives from Thailand's Ministry of Agriculture at Cessna's NBAA booth, #6000, on Tuesday, October 12, 2004, at 3:15.
