Bell Delivers Two more H-1 Aircraft in July

August 18, 2008
Fort Worth, TX - August 18, 2008 - Bell Helicopter, a Textron Inc. (NYSE: TXT) company, delivered two more H-1 aircraft to the U.S. Marines in July.

Including these two aircraft, Bell has delivered a total of eight H-1 aircraft this year – three AH-1Z attack helicopters and five UH-1Y utility helicopters. All eight aircraft are part of the U.S. Marine Corps H-1 Upgrade program.

Final assembly of the helicopters was completed at Bell’s Military Aircraft Assembly Center in Amarillo, Texas. Both aircraft were ferried to Camp Pendleton, Calif.

The UH-1Y delivered in July was an all-new aircraft – the second all-new UH-1Y to be delivered this year. Bell delivered its first all-new UH-1Y in June, marking the first time in thirty years that the Marine Corps has taken delivery of an all-new Huey aircraft.

Bell is currently on contract to produce 34 upgraded H-1 aircraft for the Marines: eight AH-1Z attack aircraft and 26 UH-1Y utility aircraft. So far, the company has delivered 18 upgraded H-1 helicopters.

The H-1 Upgrade Program calls for a total of 100 UH-1Y and 180 AH-1Z aircraft, although the Marines have indicated a desire to increase the number of H-1 aircraft they will procure in light of the "Grow the Force" initiative to increase the size of the Corps.
