Wichita, KS – July 20, 2010 – If you've been considering a plunge into social media but never had the motivation, how about the prospect of winning a new Apple iPad? That is the grand prize for one of two social media events planned by Cessna Aircraft Company, a Textron Inc. (NYSE: TXT) company, at this year's Experimental Aircraft Association's annual week-long conference – AirVenture 2010.
Cessna will host a Tweetup and, in what is probably an Oshkosh first, a Tweasure Hunt, both focused primarily for Twitter users but available to Facebook aficionados as well. Both events will take place July 28.
"We thought this would be a great way to both acknowledge the legion of social media devotees in the aviation world and punctuate the reason we all come to Oshkosh – to be around airplanes," said Tom Aniello, vice president, Cessna Marketing.
"At the morning event, we will have company executives on hand for a Tweetup about Cessna airplanes, and it's not limited to social media journalists. Right after that, we'll start the Tweasure Hunt with descriptions sent out via Twitter or Facebook about specific things with Cessna ties located around the AirVenture grounds at Wittman Regional Airport, and we have nifty prizes – an iPad is the grand prize – for finding them," Aniello said.
Cessna will have donuts and special T-shirts on hand for the first 100 at the Tweetup. Official rules for the Tweasure Hunt can be found at http://www.cessna.com/tweasurehunt/. In order to receive the object descriptions, a player must follow Cessna on either of the company's Twitter accounts at www.twitter.com/fly_cessna or www.twitter.com/GetInTheAir , or be a Facebook friend of the Cessna Pilot Center page at Facebook | Cessna Pilot Centers.
