Textron Systems Establishes Office Near Marine Corps Base Quantico

July 19, 2011

Wilmington, MA - July 19, 2011 - Textron Systems, a Textron Inc. (NYSE: TXT) company, announced today it has opened an office in Stafford, Va. The 2,500-square-foot office is located at the Oak Hill Business Center at 3619 Jefferson Davis Highway, and is dedicated to providing direct service and support to key customers in the area, including those at nearby Marine Corps Base Quantico.

The office is being managed by Michael Micucci, a retired United States Marine Corps colonel. Micucci is vice president of expeditionary and Marine Corps programs for Textron Marine & Land Systems, an operating unit of Textron Systems.

“Establishing a presence near Quantico is important, because it illustrates our commitment to strengthening the relationships we have with the Marine Corps acquisitions and requirements community. We want to be able to quickly respond to their warfighting needs,” said Micucci.

Textron Systems is currently pursuing the Marine Corps High-Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicle recapitalization program, offering its Survivable Combat Tactical Vehicle (SCTV) system in partnership with Granite Tactical Vehicles Inc. The SCTV has undergone independent and U.S. Marine Corps blast and mobility testing.

Micucci also points to the fact that other Textron businesses—such as Bell Helicopter and AAI Unmanned Aircraft Systems through its Shadow® Tactical Unmanned Aircraft System—have strong relationships with Marine Corps Aviation. “We know we can become a force multiplier for the Marines on the ground side, too,” he explained.

Micucci joined Textron Marine & Land Systems earlier this year after 27 years in the Marine Corps. He served as product group director, Ground Transportation and Engineer Systems and deputy program executive officer of Land Systems at the U.S. Marine Corps Systems Command. Micucci also held positions as program manager, Light Armored Vehicle with Tank-automotive and Armaments Command, and product manager, Joint Light Tactical Vehicle, Marine Corps Systems Command.
