April 09, 2013

Fort Worth, TX - April 9, 2013 - Bell Helicopter, a Textron Inc. company (NYSE: TXT), announced today its participation in the ninth bi-annual LAAD Defense and Security International Exhibition, held April 9 to April 12 at Riocentro in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Bell Helicopter will have a strong presence as an exhibitor, featuring the recently announced Bell 407GT in its booth.

"LAAD presents a great opportunity for us to connect with our commercial and military customers in Latin America," said Danny Maldonado, Bell Helicopter's executive vice president of Commercial Sales and Marketing. "We are very excited to showcase the new Bell 407GT, a commercially qualified helicopter with armament capabilities ranging from mini-guns to laser guided precision weapons. With a fully integrated glass cockpit and the proven reliability of the Bell 407 platform, the 407GT delivers reliability, safety and the ability to escalate force when necessary."

The Bell 407GT is the company's armed version of the best-selling Bell 407GX, qualified for a range of weapons from light munitions to advanced laser-guided munitions. The state-of-the-art tactical light commercial helicopter brings together the Garmin G1000HTM flight deck with precision weapons capability. Standard specifications include an infrared camera system, weapons management system, universal weapons pylon, tactical radio suite, target sight system, sliding doors for rapid egress and ingress on both sides and high-visibility windows and door for the cockpit.

Bell Helicopter will also highlight the power and versatility of its newest light twin, the Bell 429. The Bell 429 has received worldwide accolades for its luxury seating, glass cockpit and superior speed and enhanced safety margins making it the first choice for a variety of missions around the globe. The Bell 429 is in service today with customers in Europe, North America, Latin America, the Middle East and Asia Pacific across all market segments, including oil and gas, parapublic, helicopter emergency medical services and corporate/VIP.

Also promoting its military aircraft, Bell Helicopter will reinforce the mission capability and readiness of the Bell UH-1Y Venom and Bell AH-1Z Viper aircraft. Both platforms represent Bell Helicopter's commitment to fully support the utility and attack mission spectrum without compromising weight, fuel or weapons load over similar legacy systems.

LAAD is the leading exhibition for the defense and security sector in Latin America. The biennial event brings together Brazilian and international companies specializing in supplying equipment, services and technology to the Armed Forces, police and Special Forces, consultants and government agencies. In 2011, 25,800 visitors from 54 countries and 663 exhibitors from 40 countries attended. Growth is expected this year, with over 720 exhibitors and 30,000 visitors anticipated to attend.
