TRU’s Aviation Maintenance Training Academy Is Now An EASA-certified Training Center

November 02, 2016

NBAA’s Business Aviation Convention & Exhibition (NBAA-BACE), Orlando, FL—November 2, 2016 — TRU Simulation + Training Inc., a Textron Inc. (NYSE: TXT) company, announced today that its Aviation Maintenance Training Academy received EASA Part-147 approval and is now able to train European-based maintenance technicians on the popular Beechcraft King Air 300 series courses. In addition, the center continues to expand its maintenance training capability with new maintenance and avionics programs being added rapidly.

Opened in November of 2015, TRU’s Aviation Maintenance Training Academy is located on the Textron Aviation Mid-Continent campus in Wichita, Kansas. Aircraft technicians receive a combination of classroom instruction featuring 3D modeling and animation and hands-on training on both maintenance task trainers and actual aircraft housed in the academy’s adjacent 35,000 square foot, climate-controlled hangar. Instruction is provided by individuals who not only are experienced in maintaining the type of aircraft they are teaching, but who also have direct interaction with the people who make the aircraft.

Courses currently offered include maintenance and avionics theory and practical training for the following aircraft models:

  • Cessna Skyhawk, Skylane, Turbo Stationair
  • Beechcraft Baron and Bonanza
  • Cessna Caravan and Grand Caravan
  • Beechcraft King Air 90, 200 and 300 series
  • Cessna Citation Sovereign, Sovereign+, Latitude

McCauley propeller maintenance for piston and turboprop aircraft, as well as Structural Inspection and Repair Manual training (for applicable Beechcraft models) are also available courses at the academy.

Additional courses available in early 2017, and available to schedule now, include maintenance and avionics theory and practical training for the Cessna Citation CJ series, Cessna Citation Excel series, Cessna Citation X. and Cessna Citation X+. The Aviation Maintenance Training Academy plans to continue expanding its training capability to include other current production Textron Aviation aircraft throughout 2017.

David Smith, Vice President of Training Centers, stated that, “We’re excited to not only begin accommodating our European customers as they seek a world-class EASA approved training experience, but also continue expanding our maintenance training capabilities. All of which are OEM-certified.”
