BONN, GERMANY (8 September 2017) – Kautex Textron GmbH & Co. KG (Kautex), a Textron Inc. (NYSE: TXT) company, announced its show plans for the 2017 IAA International Motor Show (IAA Cars) in Frankfurt, Germany, September 12-24. Kautex will display its lightweight, all-plastic, pressurized hybrid fuel tank, and feature innovations to its conventional and hybrid systems, Clear Visions Systems (CVS) autonomous driving products and a new Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) heating solution.
“The IAA provides a great venue to engage with our current and future customers as well as to showcase products that bring innovative yet robust solutions to meet the evolving needs of the industry,” said Joerg Rautenstrauch, Kautex’s president & CEO.
The company will showcase its lightweight pressurized hybrid fuel tank – a first-to-market success for Kautex. Since its production launch two years ago, Kautex has received orders from numerous global OEMs for its advanced technology.
“We are in a position unlike any of our competitors in that we have two years of production experience with our hybrid tank and have already implemented advancements to pass rigorous impact and soaking tests,” said Rainer Jorach, Kautex’s vice president, Engineering. “Kautex has proven its capability in this space and is a trusted supplier to several OEMs who are in – or entering – the hybrid vehicle segment.”
With global and regional OEMs making the move to electric propulsion, Kautex’s hybrid fuel system technology provides significant advantages over traditional steel tanks, namely a weight reduction of up to 60 percent. This results in reducing emissions even further for hybrid and plug-in hybrid vehicles.
Kautex will also showcase several product innovations providing customers additional flexibility in product design as well as the company’s most recent Autonomous Driving Assistance Systems (ADAS) offerings through its CVS brand.
“As OEMs continue to develop autonomous driving solutions, the need for clean sensors and cameras becomes evident,” said Chris Davies, global innovation manager, Kautex CVS. “CVS has collaborated with several OEMs to design cleaning solutions to help improve the vehicle’s performance, but do not break the sleek design of the vehicle.”
Also on display will be a heating solution for SCR tanks for diesel vehicles, meeting the Euro-6 requirement that AdBlue® must be readily available at any point to reduce Nitrous Oxide (NO2) emissions.
