Augusta, Ga. (Jan. 22, 2025) Textron Specialized Vehicles Inc., a Textron Inc. (NYSE: TXT) company, now offers Pace Technology Walk™, a new solution to enable golf-course owners and operators to track walking golfers and caddies on their course. Using Walk, operators can trace the location of walkers in real time, using the same proven Pace Technology™ platform used to manage vehicles and equipment. Walk complements existing Pace Technology solutions for E-Z-GO® and Cushman® vehicles, and provides golf course operators an even more comprehensive solution for managing operations and pace of play.
Textron Specialized Vehicles is a trusted provider to the golf industry as the manufacturer of E-Z-GO golf cars, Cushman utility vehicles, and Jacobsen® turf equipment.
Walk leverages the existing Pace Technology software platform – using advanced GPS-based technology and accessible to operators through a multitude of devices, including desktop and laptop computers, tablets and smartphones. To use Walk, golfers are issued a small electronic puck that clips easily to a walker’s pocket, golf bag, lanyard or caddie bib. The puck’s battery is designed to last through two rounds before needing to charge and can be recharged easily using a magnetic attachment.
The Walk solution allows operators to monitor walking golfers and their caddies and track pace of play. From the Pace platform, operators can choose to observe the status of all golfers on their course. They can view walkers and golf-car riders together, or select each group individually, for a comprehensive view of the situation on their course at any moment.
Through an alarm built into the puck, course operators can send audible alerts to nudge golfers to speed up play or warn walkers of inclement weather or other conditions on the course. In the event of a medical issue or on-course emergency, operators can use Pace to locate any walker in an instant. The Walk system also can provide golfers in vehicles equipped with Pace technology screens with visibility to the location of walking golfers ahead of them, helping to prevent safety hazards where golfers are hitting into “blind spots” on the course.
Later this spring, the Walk system will be updated with additional features that enable the system to alert the clubhouse, and issue an audible alert to walkers, if a golfer or caddie leaves a designated area on the course or enters an area that is off-limits.
Operators also can record and view historical data for their caddies, helping them manage their staff and daily operations. Operators can view detailed reports about each caddy on their staff, including average pace-per-hole and pace-per-round.
